Every decision Dr Khatri makes is guided by three core commitments to every patient who walks through his door.
With 15,000+ procedures behind him, Dr Khatri brings unmatched technical skill to every case. Trained by Professor John Webb in Vancouver, he applies world-class technique to deliver the best possible outcomes for every patient.
Heart attacks don't wait for business hours. Dr Khatri provides a genuine 24/7 emergency cardiac service — having treated over 1,500 patients experiencing acute heart attacks at any time of day or night, across his career.
Dr Khatri's commitment extends beyond private patients. For over 20 years, he has operated a free emergency cardiac service at Tweed Hospital, ensuring uninsured patients from the Northern Rivers region receive the same life-saving care.

Dr Shailesh Khatri's journey to becoming the Gold Coast's most trusted senior interventional cardiologist began in Fiji, where he was born, and continued to Australia in 1983. He earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland and completed cardiology training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle.
In 2001, Dr Khatri was selected for a prestigious Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, working directly under Professor John Webb — one of the world's most decorated interventional cardiologists. During the fellowship, he completed over 1,200 procedures, building an extraordinary technical foundation that continues to define his practice.
Today, Dr Khatri is a senior cardiologist with admitting rights at John Flynn Private Hospital, an Adjunct Professor at Bond University, and one of the Gold Coast's most experienced TAVI operators. He remains as committed to his patients as ever — and as available.

Over 20 years ago, Dr Khatri identified a critical gap in cardiac care. Patients experiencing heart attacks in the Northern Rivers region of NSW — many of them uninsured — had no access to emergency angioplasty (Primary PCI) close to home.
He made a decision that would define his career: he established the Primary PCI service at Tweed Hospital, entirely for the benefit of uninsured patients. No government mandate. No financial incentive. Just a cardiologist who believed that every person deserved the chance to survive a heart attack.
That service continues to operate to this day, saving lives in the Northern Rivers region of NSW that would otherwise have been lost.
Access to life-saving cardiac care should not depend on which side of the border you live on, or whether you have private health insurance.
